     he wild turkey's habitat will most likely be in an area that contains trees and brush.  It is here that its dark iridescent plumage helps it blend into the surroundings, camouflaging it as it forages the sylvan floor.  Primarily land dwellers, these large birds are not flightless, and the trees in this often rugged environment provide elevated roosts to which the turkey will retreat at night to rest in safety,


   n the Panhandle of Texas when the great, flat, treeless expanse is broken by rivers, you will find just such an environment, and you will find wild turkeys living "On the Breaks".
