      onghorn cattle were an important factor in settling the West.  A lean and hearty animal, they could weather difficult conditions and survive long cattle drives better than other breeds.


   n this scene a longhorn is seen reclining, a brief respite before it returns to grazing.  On one of its horns is perched a small bird who has stopped to rest on the closest available "branch".  Both are engaged in a brief stop on their journeys, a "Layover".
